All ReMa students are invited to attend an online presentation about the PhD programme in History at the EUI Department of History. This programme focuses on the history of Europe in the world, from the 15th century to the present. The department is united by a common goal: to rethink European history through a transnational lens, emphasizing the movement of ideas, goods, and people, while paying particular attention to the diverse roles and positions of Europeans in the global context. The Department specializes in comparative, transnational, and global history, with a long-term perspective that seeks to understand long cycles of transformation and the enduring influence of ideas, institutions, and social and political structures that have shaped Europe.
The Department offers a distinctive, fully funded PhD programme in transnational and comparative European history, supported by an internationally diverse and multicultural faculty.
This interactive webinar provides an opportunity for postgraduate students and prospective applicants to learn more about the EUI PhD programme in History and Civilisation, by engaging directly with current PhD researchers. Following a brief introduction to the European University Institute, the Department of History, and the PhD application process, participants will have the chance to discuss what it’s like to study at the EUI, the structure of the PhD programme, life in Florence, and more. Special attention will be given to opportunities for pursuing PhD research in premodern history.
