Good Governance and the Built Environment of Late Medieval Cities (1200-1700)

3-5 September 2025 – Brussels

This conference will explore how the built environment of late medieval cities was conceptualised and physically shaped in relation to ideals of good governance.

We will focus on a large historical period (1200–1700) and cover urban centres from North-Western Europe to the Middle East. The conference brings together a large number of researchers who will contribute to the main topic of this conference from a wide variety of expertises.

The conference will take place from 3 to 5 september 2025 at the Royal Library of Belgium in Brussels (KBR), Kunstberg 28, 1000 Brussels.
