Call for presentations: Disability and inclusion in the medieval city: a comparative view between Europe and the Islamic World

On November 27-28 2025, the congress ‘Disability and inclusion in the medieval city: a comparative view between Europe and the Islamic World’ will be held at the university of Cantabaria, Spain.

The International Meetings of the Middle Ages in Nájera have been an important international congress for the study and dissemination of Medieval History since their inception in 2003, initiated by the Nájera City Council and the Government of La Rioja.

The 22nd edition of the Meetings will focus on the theme: Disability and Inclusion in the Medieval City: A Comparative View Between Europe and the Islamic World. During the Middle Ages, people with disabilities faced unique challenges. This edition seeks to explore how they were perceived and treated within medieval society, highlighting forms of integration through a comparative lens between cities in Europe and the Islamic world.

This call for presentations invites anyone with an interest in disability and inclusion in the medieval city to apply.

Deadline for application is 13 October, 2025.
